Whose Voice Matters Anyway?
Only 2 people should have a say in your legacy decisions.
I've been spending countless days and nights working behind the scenes on the Sleeping Phoenix DiscoveryJourney. I call it a labor of love. Showcasing 40 years of certification, training, learning and diplomas to paper an entire room of my house. So many validations of training, but I never took action.
Until now.
I have a personal life and still need to show up. I make dinner, appointments and deal with my primary caretaker role. Pay attention to needs and bills. All while (like Ginger Rodgers) doing it backwards, in high heels, and making it look easy.
But there are days where the compromise seems like too heavy of an ask. Where my particular human design makes me feel like a chainsaw.
RECLAIM
I have to retrieve my dignity after a long covered wound gets opened. This shows up for me in a variety of ways. And these “distorions” feel like a 1970's slide on a hot July day with shorts on.
They can be my Greek Chorus.
Complete with masks and scripts. Pointing my brain towards homeostasis and Netflix, or chocolate and “Do it tomorrow” thinking. Where all the loose ends live.
Until someone said - those voices in our heads don't matter. They should remain as an observer. Thank you GSE Book Club. This week's book by Michael Singer is starting to make sense.
REALIGN
And this morning, the emotional coup-de-grace, the final blow happened.
When you are looking at something important you really only need the validation of 2 people.
The 6 year old self and your 80 year old self.
This is the RISE UP section. Your soul already knows your dreams. And quite frankly, on a Friday in June, is it sitting through another endless meeting? Or making another bucket list that you don't plan to fulfill?
What would light you up that made your 6 year old squeal in delight?
What LEGACY would your soul feel accomplished the dream only you could fulfill. Making that bold soul say No Karma stone left undone.
And how do you get from here to there?
First suggestion - Take yourself somewhere nice this weekend. Do something to show your soul you are worth fighting for.
Next - decide that today is your purpose filled Day One. You get permission for that Joy Journey
To help move the needle
Follow people who inspire you. The opening of the Obama Library and cultural center gave me such joy. They inspire me.
What inspires you the wonderful Juneteenth?
More information forthcoming on my Joy journal next week.
